Meet Your Doula

Lexi Zuo- Owner, CEO, Doula & Lactation Counselor

My name is Lexi Zuo! I’m a Christian, Wife, Mama of 5, DONA-certified Birth Doula, Lamaze-certified Childbirth Educator, & ALPP Lactation Counselor (CLC). I also host the podcast: Happy High-Risk Pregnancy!! I started attending births 14 years ago while running a non-profit in East Africa. The more I saw, the more I fell in love with the miracle of life!

Since supporting those first births, I adopted my oldest daughter, married my handsome husband, moved back to the US, and had four more babies with high-risk pregnancies. I’ve also gone through two miscarriages, two years of secondary infertility, and a failed foster care adoption. When I say I’ve run the gamut of experiences growing my family, I truly mean it!

The Elgin Doula Experience

My experiences growing my own family have deeply shaped my practice as a birth doula. You need childbirth education, labor coaching, lactation support, and evidence-based information. But you also need a birth doula who will encourage you, hold your hand, and give you a warm smile during your hardest moments ahead.

I’ve been there… five times over!! I am passionate about providing all Elgin Doula moms with expert pregnancy, birth, and postpartum support PLUS that deep relational connection you need as you welcome your new baby into the world!

It would be an honor to support you. Hope to meet you soon Mama!

“If you’re thinking about hiring Lexi, do it! It was the best decision my husband and I made. Lexi is so knowledgeable, supportive, and caring. She walks with you every step of the way during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My birth experience was different than I had planned but with Lexi’s encouragement and calming presence, it was still the best day of my life. Lexi LOVES being a doula and that passion overflows into the care and education she provides. The bottom line is if you’re looking for a doula, look no further! You’ll not only have a great doula, but you’ll also find a forever friend.”

“During the birth Lexi was able to anticipate a need before I even knew I had it, and made me as comfortable as possible. She went above and beyond to try to make sure the experience went as smooth as possible and helped me stick to my plan of having a natural birth. The entire time she reminded me that I could do it, and that I was strong. Not only could I not imagine my birth any other way, but my husband would say the same. We are truly so thankful for everything she has done for us before, during, and after the birth of our little girl and will consider her a friend for years to come!”

“We hired Lexi very early in our pregnancy (at about 7 weeks) and it was the best decision we could have made! I highly recommend hiring her early because she really takes the time to get to know you. During our labor and birth, Lexi helped us feel empowered to make the best decisions for me and our baby. She worked so well with the nurses and doctors. She has also checked in on us multiple times postpartum. I truly do feel like I have a lifelong friend in Lexi. If you are considering hiring Lexi as your doula for your pregnancy, I highly recommend it! “

“I hired Lexi when I first became pregnant, as I am a first time momma. She guided me throughout my pregnancy by offering 24/7 support, education during prenatal sessions, a lending library of helpful books about pregnancy and labor. Lexi always leads with compassion, and will be there for you no matter what. I could not have done my labor without her. She held my hand, helped me by changing positions, offered massage and counter pressure during contractions, and breathed through every contraction with me! Not only has Lexi been an amazing doula, but now I consider her a friend!”
