Elgin Eats for Tired Moms
Whether you’re in the throes of early pregnancy nausea, late pregnancy exhaustion, or postpartum overwhelm figuring out life with your newborn, having some yummy food lined up can make a huge difference. Good food can be healing to the body AND the heart during the more difficult days. Elgin mamas, today I thought I’d share my top local Elgin restaurant picks to get dinner on the table (or in bed when you’re feeling extra lousy) quick and easy without breaking the bank!!
Los Comales Taqueria (drive-through)
Y'all I’m pretty sure nothing could be better for your Mexican cravings than DRIVE- THROUGH tacos! Yes…you read that right! Los Comales features drive-through taco service!! Order at the booth, park in your designated spot number and wait for delicious tacos to be delivered within minutes. They have all the typical taco meats everyone loves. Plus Tuesdays all tacos are just $1! My favorite meat is the al pastor pork, but my husband loves their steak and chicken. Try them all are see which you like best. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Geno Nottolini’s Pizza (delivery)
Next up is my favorite local pizza place. My family LOVES getting their XL thin crust pizza. They do our beloved Chicago thin crust just right. I also adore their boneless BBQ wings when wanting to change up my flavors. Bonus they offer cauliflower crust and gluten-free pizza crusts for those on particular diets. They have awesome specials (Tuesdays all pizzas are half price!) and deliver quickly.
My favorite local all-American restaurant is hands down Elgin Public House. They serve it all… salads, burgers, pasta, steak, fish, bbq, pot roast… you name it they likely have it! This cozy pub features truly amazing food and again… every day of the week they have great specials. My favorite day is their 1/2 off all burgers and chicken sandwiches Mondays. Seriously… amazing restaurant quality burgers and sandwiches plus fries for $5-6. It can’t be beaten!! My favorite entree is their spinach salad with added grilled chicken. I never would have thought to mix spinach, peppers, goat cheese, eggs, and Thai dressing, but the combo truly is magical (plus it offers lots of iron and folate for growing babies!!).
Let me know which one you try out next time you take a break from cooking or just need extra pampering in the form of gastronomic deliciousness!
